AVID pioneers new ground in conceptual design with integrated flight dynamics and control. AVID's software and processes are including the inner loop flight control requirements by computing the dynamic response characteristics and the control authority.
Parametric geometry models that include density and point masses to create mass properties, coupled with 6-degrees-of-freedom (6-DOF) aerodynamic models that are automatically computed from the same geometry are evaluated together to provide objective variables to our design processes.
These same models are then exported to more complex aerodynamic methods and CAD tools to create higher fidelity models for the purpose of detailed flight control system development.
These process improvements enable AVID to evaluate advanced aircraft concepts with confidence that the final design will be one that is controllable within requirements.
